This work is inspired by everything we learned in development of the Oakfield Terrace scheme about retrofit measures as a way to tackle fuel poverty and improve the health and well-being of residents, whilst also doing good for the planet and future generations. We developed a local stakeholder group and work closely with Liverpool City Region and Liverpool City Council to raise awareness and build local capacity and demand for energy efficient renovations. Our goal is to develop a demonstrator project for an equitable roll-out of retrofit measures across tenures in our area, following a street-by-street approach.
What we achieved so far:
Delivered energy efficiency awareness training to five community anchor organisations;
Delivered 5x community events, offering advice, capacity building and DIY solutions regarding domestic energy efficiency improvements;
Received a UKRI Community Research grant
Developed a stakeholder network to explore area-based retrofit solutions with 20 stakeholders from Liverpool City Council and City Region Combined Authority and local suppliers, intermediaries, community anchor organisations;
Currently training 3 x citizen researchers and 8 x community energy champions in retrofit and energy awareness.
