Homecinema: Go Greased Lightnin'!
As part of our Return of the Thing at the Rec event, we had our first Homecinema showing. Organised by Matt, who is the brother of our volunteer Beth, it was a fabulous event and one we're going to be doing again in the future.
Matt is a student and has a keen interest in film, and the choices of "Grease" and "Pride" were his.
Not only were we showing Grease, but it was the singalong version as well, and we had all-American style beers and popcorn for sale before the picture started, as well as the option for you to get 50s style hair and makeup done.
The hair/makeup was provided by local make-up artist, Jemma Rafferty, and helped everybody get into the mood and into style - it was like stepping through a timewarp into the 1950s!
Before the movie started, there was still plenty to do.
We had our crazy golf and mini table football set up, ready for the weekend's family fun day and markets.
As well as this, there was still time for everyone to get their pictures taken by resident photographer, Mark Loudon.
Britt, Coralie and Beth looked fab in their Pink Ladies jackets.
When 9pm came, we were just about ready to roll...
Just enough time to wait for the skies to darken enough, and to grab a popcorn and drink - got to get ready for all that singing!
Britt introduces the movie, and we all clear our throats ready to begin!
...and...
Action!
Grease is a classic, and even though everyone had seen it probably a million times over, an awesome night was had by all!
Keep posted with us, as Homecinema will return in October, when we show a Halloween classic from Disney - "Hocus Pocus" - and hopefully more to come!
Thanks for joining us, pink ladies and t-birds!
