Homebaked is a community land trust and co-operative bakery situated on the boundary between the neighbourhoods of Everton and Anfield, just opposite the Liverpool Football Club. The project is co-owned and co-produced by people who live and work in our area. Starting from having saved our iconic neighbourhood bakery from demolition and developed it into a thriving community-run business with a beautiful apartment above we are proposing to regenerate our high street ‘brick by brick and loaf by loaf’, using money that is spent in the neighbourhood to benefit our communities.
This work is based on the simple belief that we all deserve to live well. For us that means good jobs, secure homes, great food and welcoming spaces to meet, share stories, learn and celebrate.
In 2017 we began work on the apartment above the bakery - the first homes in Homebaked.
Homebaked Community Land Trust (CLT) objects to the use, in a recent article in the Liverpool Echo, of the word ‘hipster’ to describe our recent planning application in both the title and body of the article. The likely implication of such language for many readers is that our initiative is not rooted in the local area but instead a form of gentrification brought in from the outside. It is important for all the local people who came up with these plans and have fought for the refurbishment of these houses for over 5 years to emphasise that we are a locally rooted initiative that is working to develop and protect our neighbourhood through community ownership and decision making.
Homebaked Community Land Trust in Anfield and Everton, Liverpool are looking for a freelance Community Engagement Officer. This is a challenging, but exciting time for us and we want someone who can ensure we remain community led in everything we do in the next 6 months. We are about to move into our next phase of developing a terrace of 9 houses into homes and community business space. You would be key to ensuring our members and the wider community are engaged in this and the work of our Board generally.
If you are self-motivated, community minded and great at communicating….then we want to hear from you!
The role is a day a week for 6 months, funded through the Lottery Community Fund.
We welcome and encourage applications from everyone regardless of age, disability, gender, ethnicity, religion and sexual orientation.

Great article in the Independent about community businesses working together all across Liverpool. Just in time for the opening of Kitty's Launderette on our High Street and of course our planning application going in.
